What is SRI?
SRI stands for Sumadhura Residents Initiative. This is a community of like minded concerned people who have come together to make a difference to the society is their own possible ways.


Who forms the SRI?
SRI is formed of all the members residing in and around the Sumadhura Locality. Currently we have members from Sawan only, as we are a just getting started. But the plan is to include the communities of Sankalpam, Sreenivasam, Vasantham and Euro School.


What does SRI do?
SRI has no specific defined activities. We are open to issues and ideas. We started with the Plantation drive and want to have more such drives so that we can use the monsoon time for the saplings to grow.
We also plan for used clothes drive for the poor and community open area clean up and decoration.


Why does SRI do all these?
The activities taken up by SRI is completely self driven and on the support of concerned and supportive people like you. There is no mandate for anyone to join in or once joined in to contribute in every drive. It is based of the interest level, schedules and availability of members. Though we all definitely to run that extra mile from our day to day lives.

An example -Approximately 300 trees can counter balance the amount of pollution 1 person produces in life time. Is it not our duty to plant a few trees?


How can I become a member?
All are welcome to join in. However, we would request only interested people who can really take the spade to dig to come forward. You have to get your hands dirty. But the satisfaction gained is unmatched. And we all finally have a responsibiltiy to give back to the society, however small or big. And your kids will learn and value the activity.

Is there any joining fees?
There is no joining fees. As of now we are operating on a self sufficient business model. But incase we need any support from our members, we would let you know.


I do not have time, but, I can contribute in cash. Is it possible?
No. We do not accept monetary donations as we are not a recognised organization. We want more helping hands which can carry a sapling and plant it.


What activities has SRI done so far?
SRI is at a nascent stage. We planned and completed our 1st plantation drive with 10 trees in and around the Sumadhura Sawan Project. Since this is our 1st intiatve we tried to keep it on hearsay and word of mouth. There were a total of 25+ members who helped us(including kids of different ages!)

But seeing the enthusiasm we have now planned to make it more organised and planned. We try to make sure we involve as many people as possible in our plantations.


Who funds the SRI?
The SRI is self funded within members who have taken interest to give back to the society. Incase needed we would request for contribution for a particular drive from members.


When is the next drive planned?
We are planning for the next plantation drive in the September. Interested people can join in as members to get enrolled as SRI members who will get the updates of the activity and can help as needed.
